Given the location and international popularity of this event, we have been thinking about the possibility of tagging on a Friday event with an 'international' team flavour.
Nothing set in stone, but just kicking about some ideas, which we'd like some feedback on and are asking for 'expressions of interest'.
The initial proposal is a Friday team event of 2-a-side, in age categories, men's and women's, possibly played in groups of similar abilities to conclusion on the day. It would be for VETTS members only.
Ideally, 'international' teams - but with some flexibility. No selection criteria, sort yourselves out. Not representing the country in an official capacity so, eg we could have 'Danish Vikings On Tour' rather than a 'Denmark selected team'; England's North East Nomads; etc.
The emphasis would be on fun and friendship. We think we could run it on 24 tables, therefore allowing for 48 teams. On a break-even basis so it would keep costs down but would allow for an extra day's play. Maybe a social side on the Friday night?
At this stage we are just looking for feedback. Mainly:
1) Expressions of interest - would you be interested in taking part?
2) Positive suggestions - to make it fly?
3 Offers of help - particularly people who would act as VETTS ambassadors and liaise with potential teams, or would help with a social, or could help find sponsorship?
Any comments gratefully received - but please bear in mind this is in the early planning stages, so please don't bombard us with detailed questions just yet.
