Harvey Webb RIP

It is with much sadness that we learnt that a good friend of the VETTS and table tennis stalwart, Harvey Webb, passed away on November 7, 2024.

Harvey and his wife Diane (pictured) dedicated themselves to the sport they both loved. Harvey was involved from an early age as a player, administrator and organiser. Firstly, as a volunteer and then as National Events Manager with the ETTA and then again as a volunteer. He held many positions at club and league level, county with Middlesex, with the ETTA and latterly with the Swaythling Club International as Deputy President and then Secretary, in which capacity he attended many of the European and World Veteran Championships.

Harvey was honoured by the ETTA with the Ivor Montagu Award in 1981, a Vice-President in 1986, the AK Vint Staff Award in 2004 and an Honorary Life Member in 2011.

He remained a member of the VETTS and kept up-to-speed with all our activities and events, and his many friends in our Society. Together with his wife Diane, they published a very popular newsletter with a comprehensive round-up of national and international table tennis news and features.

He will be remembered with much affection by many and with much gratitude for his considerable contribution to our sport. On behalf of all his friends in the VETTS, our sincere condolences to Diane, and their family and friends.

(Diane has asked not to be contacted directly at the moment, but we have sent a card on behalf of all the VETTS and will pass on any further details we receive.)
