A few weeks ago we reported that the advertised NE Masters for the 24/25 season clashed with the Great North Run, and the accommodation costs were absolutely ridiculous. Since that message we have been working diligently behind the scenes to contact alternative venues. May I thank everyone for their goodwill and suggestions, with particular thanks to Zoe Podmore, Alan Ransome, Tony Worthington, Chris Blake , Janet Adams and Susie Venner.
Below Is more detail about the process we undertook, but first of all let me share the outcome.
The NE Masters will be played in Durham at the University Sports Arena on the weekend of the 31 August / 1 September 2024 (a week before the advertised date)

Chris Blake is currently investigating options in terms of accommodation. We had thought there might be an option to use student accommodation, but this is in the centre of Durham so might present parking issues. We will find out more shortly.
Other venues that were contacted:
· York (Not available on the dates, but were very keen to assist. The challenge would be that we would have to hire a PA and chairs for the event)
· Hull (Not available on the dates, but extremely keen to work with us in the future. Many thanks to Zoe for making contact and visiting the venue)
· Middlesborough (Update from Susie - Not available on the dates, but would love to host a VETTS event in the future. Worry they might be a bit too small for one of our Masters, but great to have another potential new, enthusiastic partner.)
